Hello humans, mutants and other species!

I'm PurNie, a photographer and producer who "sings" and writes his own songs in an amateur way since a few years ago going back and forth with his projects while dealing with other concerns and obstacles in the meantime like the vast majority of humans.

In my case, at least, I try to look and feel as human as possible even when I sometimes failed to try. To be honest I have to tell you a little bit about myself so that you can understand what I am trying to say and where I am going with this introduction.

Most of the time I tend to feel out of place and I don't usually make a connection so easily with others. Sometimes I do it for a period of time but eventually people go on their own way and I go on mine taking different directions. Anyway, I think this happens to the vast majority of people, right?

Well, in my case maybe it happens more than usual although I could never understand those people who keep their high school friendships as they grow up. It is as if they had never changed their personalities and I think it is important for people to change in order to experience life from different perspectives and to be able to see other aspects in life.

Anyway, all this existencial issue about not finding my place in this world, being an outcast and probably a person somewhat different from most of the people made me begin to develop certain interests in art and music in order to express myself. First I started doing photography in a very experimental way and now I find myself doing the same with music production.

My music album Heartless released in 2018 was almost 100% an empirical project. I currently find myself remaking it after dedicating my time studying music production when the restrictions due to the pandemic had become intense in our country and all over the world. Somehow that pushed me to focus on acquiring more knowledge.

I really notice the difference in the way I perceive sounds today and how I handle certain processes during the building of the songs, but I still have a long way to go. Especially considering that everything I do is based on very limited resources, in every sense.

After releasing my album, 3 months later I had practically no plays or listeners on Spotify or any other site and that made me start looking for ways to promote my work which I will share with you. There are some more and sites friends I will share in another post so this one doesn't get too extensive.

I want to emphasize that some sites have more traffic and are better tracking audiences than others and others are targeting specific genres such as electronic or rock in other cases but the most important thing is that they are for free or at least they have this feature available.

Other platforms to help your music find your audience:

Some of these sites have free and paid plans. It is up to you whether the investment is worth making or not. In my particular case, for months I've sent my music through submithub without any results and suddenly I found myself on lists of people who posted there for a fee and rejected my songs.

I would like to mention that outside the platform you will find sites or curators who will accept your work without charging you anything in return while the vast majority of artists are rejected for not accessing the paid features of the site other than for their repertoire .

In my case, I have to admit that my production does need more work, at least in the stage that I am now and how I approach what I do in this moment. I am also objective with my work but as I have said, I had the experience of being rejected within the platform and accepted outside of it by the same people. Keep that in mind this could happen on any site.

I think another thing you can do is to contact curators through linkedin or their personal Facebook's profiles. Some of them will find this innapropiate but some of them don't and to be honest most of these people are not the biggest contact you would get to make improvements in your career. They are people just like me  and you, some of them pretending to be something they are not and some of them more approachable, sincere, honest and helpful.
